That's my point. Some of the bullshit that's happened here involved us being all the wrong gender for a while, and for all we knew it was gonna last forever, but obviously it ain't like that.

Neither. I'm saying that just 'cause we went to one future once don't mean we're necessarily going to it a second time. But I been dealing with 'This is your DESTINY' bullshit since I was like....ten.

While we were switched, all of Gardner's future selves were female, too. He said that meant the switch was going to be permanent. Clearly it wasn't, though, so we know that seeing one possible version of the future doesn't necessarily mean it's going to happen for us.

Right. I don't understand this at all, but then again, I didn't really think something like switching genders or thinking we're fairy tales for a week was the same as seeing the future.

Gardner could pull himself out of various points in the future, basically, and bring those future selves back to the present. I mean, they weren't duplicates, they were him, just from points further down the timeline - if one of them had a scar, that meant he'd get cut before he got to that point in his life, that kind of thing. When our genders were switched, he started pulling future selves from as far forward as he could reach, to see how long it was going to last, and all of them were women. The way his powers worked, that should have meant we were never going to be able to switch ourselves back.

But we did switch back, obviously. We were able to change the timeline, even though we'd already met people from that future. I think that means we can do it again.

He was a mutant who could pull his future selves back to the present to help him. I copied him once and couldn't get any future selves from further than a year in the future, which meant I died. And then I could, because something happened that changed my future so that I didn't die. Shit's not set in stone, man.

I always wondered about that, Gardner's female future selves and all. But it's probably the closest thing we'll ever get to confirmation that the future isn't set in stone.

Well I don't know. Wouldn't make much sense for me to stick around a mutant school if I wasn't one anymore, right? Besides, I've got this awful taste in my mouth about that Angelica girl. I'd like to crack her in the mouth with a bare hand but I'm not into catching her type of crazy. I'll have time to figure it all out though, the Professor is making us stay at the school for the whole trial. You aren't even thinking about doing it?
